My point was that duck shooting should stop because we could run out of ducks. 
Telling a hunter they shouldn't do it purely because it's cruel is not likely 
to get you far, which is why people have to physically stand in front of them 
with whistles to reduce the number they shoot.

Telling hunters is a waste of time. It's telling governments what you as a 
voter want that makes the difference.

In the flying-fox experience we have an animal (grey-headed flying-fox, 
Pteropus poliocephalus) that is listed as vulnerable to extinction in two 
Australian states, by the commonwealth and by the IUCN. None of this matters to 
the governments who control shooting.

What is making an impact is the welfare argument.

I'm not fussed how we get the to the end of licensed recreational shooting of 
ducks and other birds, I just want to get there. Welfare is what is working in 
other, related, areas.
