Hi all,
Alistair McKeough and I went down to Boat Harbour late this afternoon
and had satisfactory although briefer than hoped for views of the ?
American golden Plover?. It was scared off by a party of ravens
fighting over an apple!!
Very frustrating but we did get some shots of it before and as it flew.
It was foraging alone but not far from 3 PGP who were also a bit
scattered. It was low tide so not ideal.
I have posted 3 images to my pbase site including a side on view, a
rear view and one in flight which is pretty ordinary but thought it
might be interesting for the experts in case it helps?
(All are cropped alot but have no post processing beyond a slight
sharpen)
It flew with 2 PGP way off back to an exposed reef near the NP carpark
and didn't return before we left.
(Did you see it Tim?)

A few people have asked about my pictures - they are unedited,
uncropped, unprocessed, and up here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrtroy/
to get to the full view, click on it, click all sizes, and there's
an assortment of sizes there.

Hi everyone,
It was still there this morning on a low tide, seen by myself and
another birder, Chris. As Tun Pin says, it is not showing any signs of
breeding plumage. There was a total of 14 obvious PGP's and the
mystery bird. I'll post a picture later and send a link to anyone
interested. I won't be able to get back there for about 8-9 days, but
watching the cycle of breeding plumage among the PGP's and Turnstones
is quite interesting at the moment.
Also present were a pair of Double-banded Plovers, the first ones I've
seen there this year. Last week there was at least 15 Ruddy
Turnstones, today there was only 4-5. Similarly, last week there was a
number of RN Stints colouring up, but I couldn't find any in any sort
of colour today.
Cheers

I saw and photographed it last weekend, and I'm going to have another
look for it early tomorrow.
