Hi Tim,Rufous Bristlebirds don't make it further east than Torquay, Vic. at the start of the Great Ocean Road. While they extend into wetter forest in the Otways (and further west) they are most regularly seen on the coast. The most similar bird in the Kinglake area would be Pilotbird. It is an inhabitant of tall wet forest and appears superficially similar. Would this match with your bird? http://www.pbase.com/wildlifeimages/pilotbird Cheers, Rohan Rohan Clarke www.wildlifeimages.com.au Recent updates: Australian Bird Vagrants http://www.pbase.com/wildlifeimages/vagrants |
