Steve,
I would suggest posting an RFI on the Singapore birding group
for info. Bintan is fairly developed and I think you will find the
bird life is not that exciting. Bintan is better known for non-
feathered birds.
If you would like a nice after conference break on a tropical island,
I would suggest Tioman, off the East coast of Malaysia. You can get
there from S'pore easily by air or sea. The birding there is not bad,
with the majority of the island coverd with rainforest and there is an
island just off shore with a colony of Christmas and Great
Frigatebirds. Also the sea-water has a much lower coliform bacteria
count.
Contact me off-group if you would like any more info.
Cheers,
Carl Clifford

Hi Folks,
Thinking of taking the wife to Bintan Island (part of Indonesia just off
Singapore) after a conference in Singapore soon.
Anyone have any birding info re this place? I have found nothing on
the net.
Cheers in advance
