I was recently watching a BFCShrike hunting exactly as you describe. Furthermore it was doing a remarkable job of hovering almost kestrel-like. >From memory there was a light breeze at the time. _______________________________ YES!! it was the quasi-raptor appearance that really surprised me. I saw the bird out of the corner of my eye and when it was a BFCS I mostly didn't believe it. Thanks everyone for their feedback. I am glad I wasn't imagining the behaviour. I can see that it could be both hunting and / or display behaviour. cheers storm (and Murry Magpie be darned, everyone knows they are mudlarks!) No virus found in this outgoing message.
