Dear all,
I have just received the latest bulletin from the Colombian bird
conservation group Fundación ProAves. They have just published the 2008
version of the Colombian checklist, which runs to an amazing 1,870
species. Given the potential difficulties birding in Colombia, such as
the terrain, a less than optimum transport system, Leftist Guerrillas,
Rightist Guerrillas, assorted paramilitary groups, drug cartels assorted
bandits, ordinary kidnapping gangs and common everday muggers, the
achieving of a full list of ticks for the country could give a whole new
meaning to the term Life List. It would be interesting trying for it
though, perhaps as the last item on ones "bucket list".
