Photos at http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/pshute2/MysteryBirdBrightVictoria.

I assumed at the time that this was a honeyeater, and guessed the size at 15
to 20cm. I was checking the trees on Bright Golf Course last week for
Painted Honeyeaters, which I've never seen before. I didn't find any, but
looking at these photos I'm kind of wondering if this is a juvenile.

It was very early, so the lighting in the photos is poor. In my notes I
described the bird as being green above and buff below, with yellow
primaries and edge of tail. The photos don't show it very well, but the
eyes were dark and appeared to have a light edge.

It was feeding in mistletoe about 2m above the ground and was making a chip,
chip noise and this was being answered similarly by other birds nearby.
This led me to assume at the time that this was not a Painted Honeyeater. I
also thought the underside was too dark, but perhaps that was just the
light.

Any suggestions? Fuscous Honeyeater has been suggested, but I'd need an
explanation for the missing yellow plume for that, as well as the call.
