Dear fellows birders,
next year two of my friends want us to walk the overland track in
Tasmania (Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair) for one of those milestone
birthdays (40). I think it is a great idea but I can't seem to
convince them to go to Broome and the kimberley instead. They are not
birders and the Broome Bird Observatory means nothing to them. I like
Tasmania but I was wondering: can anyone tell me if there is good
birding on this track? I have walked it before and it was a lovely
walk but not as 'birdy' as I had hoped. Perhaps I was not paying
enough attention? It was twelve years ago. I remember mud and rain and
little delicate mosses, toadstools, some rain, sassafras, wombats and
wallabies and iron bark flowers on the path.
regards,
David Lord

PS I can't convince them to do the South Coast Track - already asked.
