Hi
Reduction of excess can also be helped along by using some specific
credit cards... I applied for an ANZ Mastercard specifically for this
purpose. It automatically reduces the excess if you use the card to hire
the vehicle thus eliminating the extra daily expense. There is an $89
annual fee (or approx) but I have saved that already on one short car
hire!
I'm not saying it's infallible, but a phone call to ANZ assured me that
the details were correct and the reduction in excess would be supported
so long as I stayed within the rules outlined by the hire company. This
card also provides free travel insurance (overseas and domestic) if the
tickets are purchased with it and extended warranty on major
purchases....
Sounds almost too good to be true, but that's what it says fine print
and all!
I have NO connection with ANZ - I work for Energex - electricity, pylons
and all.....
Cheers
