G'day again

HANZAB gives details of introductions to Tas: 1902 first probable & failed. First successful introductions in 1906 to several sites and more releases in following years. Reminds me of the many attempts to get Mallards into NZ - now they are sorry they have them. It suggests people were keen to spread them as they had a reputation of dealing with snakes.

Introductions into WA started at Mullewa in 1896 followed by many with birds mainly from Victoria. So which one my mum knew does not matter very much.

Happy swift watching.

Mike

Hi Frank,
I may be wrong, but as far as I am aware, all Kookaburras in Tas. originate from introductions. Someone with better knowledge than mine may be able to say differently.
