Hi Peter, If I lived in an area where there were rare waders, I'd certainly be reporting off leash dogs more frequently. In my area the vulnerable time for the local birds is when there are fledglings who flutter to the ground for a week or so, whilst learning to fly. After that time they avoid dogs quite easily, but cats remain a grave problem. I doubt that a few signs in key areas would pose a problem. The entrance areas to walking tracks in the nearby council forest have very large signs, mostly talking about how golf is prohibited there. There is no vandalism as of yet.
