Oh I don't know. Some friends of mine got baled up once when outside the
Ford testing ground near Geelong. They had stopped to do some birding
with bins and cameras and were quickly approached by Ford security guys
who thought they were spying on the car testing. They were apparently
quite aggressive but picked on the wrong guy in that Trevor, my equally
aggressive friend doing the driving , told them to **** off and mind
their own business. They threatened him with cops but he again told them
to **** off and get a life. They continued their birding and left when
ready.

I think more than showing anything about Melbourne, this shows the
rather low level of intelligence required to be a security officer.

Hi all,
I don't know about the Song Thrush in Melbourne, but I do know you need
to be careful where you go bird-watching there. I had an hour to spend
in transit the other day at Melbourne ariport, on my way back to
beautiful Tassie. Having heard of Purple-crowned Lorikeets at Melbourne
airport, I went roaming just outside the terminal building with
binoculars in tow (only found Muskies), but was very quickly confronted
by Security, wanting to know if there was a reason I was taking photos
outside the Terminal. It took a bit of explaining that they were bins.,
not a camera, and I was just birdwatching, not a terrorist!
