I was going to write exactly the same thing. The only time I have seen Pied Oystercatchers feeding in lawns was on the grounds in front of the old Penitentiary, Port Arthur, Tasmania. This was in June 2003, on the only day I have been to that site, (apart from in 1970, of which I don't remember anything about the birds there). Philip |
