Hi Mick,I have seen this feeding behaviour before in the grounds of Port Arthur, with Pied Oystercatchers probing the grounds in front of the old Penitentiary, which were also closely mown and quite soft and damp. I am confident in saying they were probably not looking for oysters! But I couldn't see exactly what they were feeding on. These lawns at Port Arthur, for those of you who have never been, are less than 100 metres from the ocean. Cheers, Andrew Taylor Pacific Pines, Qld |
