I question if this (below) is a helpful or useful discussion. Many of us are 
members of both (and indeed local clubs as well). I have been a member of BOCA 
since 1970 & RAOU (BA) since 1975. I'm the same person with both. I subscribe 
to Emu and generally only look at the abstracts and subscribe to ABW (now AFO) 
and often read most of them.

I think they are so similar in aims that it would be good (administratively 
efficient) if they merged. However they have a different history and somewhat 
different style in their organisation. BOCA has more of a tradition of day 
outings and social birding camps. BA is more project oriented and has themes 
for its events. However that does not mean that one group of members are nicer 
than the other (whatever that means).
