Hi all,
HANZAB mentions very briefly nectar as food for House Sparrows but does not
mention where the source of the nectar is derived. Over the past couple of
weeks I have seen H/Sparrows on 4 occasions feeding on grevilleas, I watched
them closely and they did not appear to be taking insects, the head movement
was not a picking action just stationary as though sucking nectar. I checked
the flowers for insects but did not find any.
The observations were at sites klms apart so it wasn't a localised event. Is
this a common occurrence?
