Thanks paul - I don't think so though. I have heard a lot of Koels over the
years and they are certainly becoming more common but this is much higher
pitched than the usual 'rainbird' rising call.

Another possibility is a Common Koel. Their call carries a long way,
and they're infamous for calling at night. The pattern of the ones
I've heard doesn't really fit your "train" call, but they do have the
rising pitch on the last note.
