Sunbird in the Blue Mountains?

A bit over a month ago, there were a couple of reports of a sunbird at
Walka Water Works which is near Maitland in NSW. As far as I know, only
the caretaker ever saw it but he was quite definite about his sighting.
The bird was seen occasionally for a few days and then no further
reports apparently.

My recollection is that the bird was reported to be a female. So the
connection with this latest report might just be coincidence. Both
reports seem remarkable to me.

My Mother, also a Blue Mountainsite has spotted a Sun-Bird in their
suburban
backyard. The identification is unmistakeable; bright yellow with a dark
bid
and curved bill. We both doubt it got there of its own accord; is it a
common aviary species? If so is anyone missing a male Sun-bird? I'd be
interested to hear any opinions you have on the matter.
