I should point out that the theory about black in Fairy-wrens being age related was not mine. Nor can I positively attribute it to the man in the catskin hat, as the story was related to me by a third party. However, a Superb Fairy-wren with substantial black on the belly was seen at the Shortland Wetlands Centre, sometime in the nineties, I think. Paul Osborn |
