Andrew asked
how unusual is it for a Tawny Frogmouth to roost below one metre. I have never
seen that but I have photographed a Papuan Frogmouth in a very open situation
perched at less than one metre. It flew off to a much taller tree apparently
realising its vulnerability. The lowest I have seen the Tawny Frogmouths that
I am studying in Melbourne is 1.8m
Often low roosting results from disturbances by people or other birds but if
your bird is regularly roosting at that height we need to come up with a
different reason. Hope someone has that reason.
