Hi Crag and Birding-aussers,

On Sydney's Northern Beaches I also associate Bulbuls with Lantana and
wetlands. At Warriewood Wetland and the swampy areas to the east of
Narrabeen Lagoon there are large colonies of Bulbuls and plenty of Lantana.
They certainly like exotic vegetation but also can be seen in the Swamp
Mahoganies where they sometimes feed in the foliage. I am not sure if they
are developing a taste for nectar or insects.

Around my way Bulbuls appear to be on the increase, this increase is
increasingly noticeable over the last 4 or so years. At times Bulbuls are
the most common bird in Warriewood Wetland.

Bruce Cox.
