Peter, Further to my previous reply, as you didn't mention a dark crown I
dismissed the possibility of Grey Heron. However, Jeff Davies points out
that the rest of the description better fits an immature of that species.
Could it have had a dark crown? Also did the white at the carpal show when
standing, in flight, or both?
