I wasn't going to say more on this topic but I have to point out this
is unlikely to be true. Beavers were introduced from Canada to the
Argentinian part of Tierra del Fuego in 1946 in the hope of establishing
a wild population which could harvested for its fur. If the Argentinian
Secretary of Navy didn't expect behaviours for which beavers are famous,
he was very foolish. It may be unfortunate that these beavers fell trees
and build dams, but should have been, and probably was, expected.
On the topic of birds I though I heard Little Lorikeets at Picken Oval in
Croydon (Sydney) yesterday. I couldn't investigate and I only heard the
calls once so maybe I mis-identified Musk Lorikeet calls. A flowering
eucalypts next to the oval did seem to be attract good numbers of birds.
