I had at least 100 Zebra Finches at Newhaven Reserve last February coming into the Freshwater Bore. Possibly many more as they were spread across the area. It's not quite 1000, but we had a flock of 50 Painted Finches in the last week here in Broome. I also remember my grandmother feeding Double-barred Finches in the Granite Belt in QLD back in the 80s would regularly get flocks of 50+.
