Individuals, of course, are free to define lists any way they wish, but I think it is farcical to include Christmas island, Cocos-Keeling Islands, and Macquarie Island in the Australian List. This flies in the face of any notion of biogeography, and you might as well include the grounds of every Australian embassy! The rest of the birding world includes Christmas Island and Cocas-Keeling Islands in an Indian Ocean List. If you want a bigger target, then you can go for Australasia and include PNG.
