I haven't tried this camera, but friends with Ricohs have been happy
enough with them.
There are loads of places on the web to find camera reviews. The best
ones are probably
Digital Photography Review
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs.asp
Has in-depth reviews and comparisons of many cameras, plus short
reviews and ratings from readers, as well as online forums based on
each major manufacturer
Steve's Digicams
http://steves-digicams.com/
Very detailed reviews - most cameras are photographed against a
standard CD so you can see how big they really are!
Written in a simpler language - technical terms explained a little
better than at DPR (above)
Imaging Resource
http://www.imaging-resource.com/
Another popular review site - has plenty of technical info and
comparisons - here's where you'll find how many seconds it takes to
perform every available function on just about every digital camera in
current production.
Digital Camera Resource Page
http://www.dcresource.com/
Another review site, but without quite the extensive coverage of the
other 3.
There are plenty of other similar sites - these are probably the most
popular. Don't take the word of one reviewer - read all you can about
the camera you are going to buy. AND by then there'll be a new model,
so you will have to start again!

Hello all,
I see a recent advertisment for a Ricoh Caplio R1V digital still
camera, for
approx $650. It is quoted as having 5.0 Megapixel performance, 0.8
second
start-up, 0.05 second auto focus, expose and shoot, and a wide angle
28-135mm precision zoom lens with macro focusing to 1cm. Most of these
specifications are gobbeldgook to me, however.
Does anyone have any first hand experience/comments on this camera,
please?
Regards
Reid
