BlankHi Birders, Ann Sanchez asks about Koel Cuckoos hosts, a matter which has been dealt with before and reference should be made to the archives. But briefly in Queensland the main hosts are Orioles, Figbirds, Magpie-larks & Noisy Friarbirds. In NSW, particularly in the Newcastle-Sydney-Wollongong area, the hosts are Red Wattlebird, Noisy Friarbird and Little Wattlebird, in that order. The Little Wattlebird is a relatively newcomer as a Koel host but there are increasing numbers of records for coastal urban areas. Alan Morris Records Officer, Birding NSW |
