Dear all
I've just received this response to my email to the Minister regarding
the proposal to allow ferrets to be kept as pets (nasty bitey smelly
things!). Has anybody heard anything new? When you think of the
disasters that introducing exotic animals into the Australian
environment has already done, how can anyone consider more such
introductions. It wouldn't be long before someone gets tired of their
pet ferrets and lets them lose at the nearest reserve, and they breed
like rabbits. I don't agree with them being kept either as pets or for
other reasons, more as a security against a problem as we don't know if
there would be a problem until there is one, as with rabbits and cats.
