I must have been hearing the same bird!  

The Horsefield's bronze cuckoo was calling near the bottom of Merri Creek on
Friday night at about 6pm.

Heard this bird calling this morning for the sixth consecutive Spring since
1999 in creekside vegetation along Merri Creek below Ramsden St Reserve,
Clifton Hill, 5 km from Melbourne GPO. Have never seen it in mid-winter
here, my earliest record in the past being 5th September.
