I must have been hearing the same bird! The Horsefield's bronze cuckoo was calling near the bottom of Merri Creek on Friday night at about 6pm. Bill -----Original Message----- From: On Behalf Of Neville Pamment Sent: Saturday, 2 October 2004 10:52 PM To: Subject: Horsfield's Bronze-cuckoo Heard this bird calling this morning for the sixth consecutive Spring since 1999 in creekside vegetation along Merri Creek below Ramsden St Reserve, Clifton Hill, 5 km from Melbourne GPO. Have never seen it in mid-winter here, my earliest record in the past being 5th September.
