I have been a bit too preoccupied lately to respond to the thread on camera
lenses for bird
photography.
There have been some interesting comments and suggestions posted.
For anyone interested in this topic I would suggest checking out the "Digital

At the present time it covers mainly using compact digital cameras but I plan
to include info on
Digital SLR cameras as well.
Unfortunately, the scene changes so quickly with new models appearing every day
and older models
being discontinued.
I have tried to make my articles as general and relevant as possible but it is
hard to stay up to
date.
Even so, there should be something there which will help prospective digital
bird-photographers to
choose a suitable camera for their needs.
I would suggest that for serious bird photography a fair amount of money will
need to be spent and
an SLR camera is most desirable.
For the less serious (those not wanting to make money from their photos) a
'top-end' compact camera
with a powerful zoom lens should be suitable.
Even so, add-on extenders (teleconverters) may be needed for shots of small
birds.

Many of the photographers have been generous enough to provide details of the
camera equipment used
for many of their photos.
Take care with your camera and lens choices; this is not a cheap activity!
