I use a Canon 100-400 on my 6.3 megapixel camera. With 1.4 and 2x extension
tubes autofocussing is lost. I wouldn't be without a zoom because it lets you
frame the picture just as you want it. What a nuisance when that Black
Grasswren hops out of the grass so close to you that you can't fit it all
in the frame with your 400mm lens! As for sharpness I have in front of me a
Buff-banded Rail shot printed on 60cm x 40cm paper and it is pin sharp.
