Bush mechanic solution:
A suitable length of iron strip about 20/25 mm wide x 5 thick, drilled
and tapped 1/4" Whitworth. If 1/4" is too small, it will be 3/8"W.
Fasten this to the scope with a couple of GOOD stainless steel hose
clamps.
