Hi Guys
Just wondering if there is a trick to seeing Owlet Nightjars? I have seen
precisely 1 in the last 3.5 years - and that was shown to me sleeping
during the day in a nest box, yet I notice they are regularly listed in
Victorian and NSW weekend or 'visit' lists.
Is this because they are more common in southern states or are some
birders more adept at finding them or is there some specific ways of
locating/seeing them?
This may be a really naive question and it's possible that simply
listening for them is the answer, however, I would appreciate any
response either privately, or if you feel it's of benefit, publicly!
Thanks in advance
