When walking on a rainforest track on Fraser Island in August 1968, I believe I saw a Rufous Scrub Bird. All the reference books said that it was restricted to the mountain ranges on the QLD-NSW border, so I presumed I was mistaken. I've recently been surfing the Web for references about the Rufous Scrub Bird where one reference said it was once coastal but retreated due to land clearing. All the references I've read recently describing it described my sighting perfectly in regards to preferred habitat; behaviour & call. I'm now convinced my original identification was correct.
