David Mitford has reported to me that there were Major Mitchells' Cockatoos, several Crimson Chats and Diamond Doves (the later 2 in Charcoal Tank NR) this week around West Wyalong (approx. 500km west of Sydney CBD) at the moment. Shy Heathwrens along the Tallimba Rd (approx. 10 km down the road from the Newell HWY) where I heard them and where I saw a Crested Bellbird and some Spotted Nightjars about 2 months ago. This area certainly can produce some interesting birds and is always worth a visit. A Superb Parrot was also seen at the quite relaible Cowra area (has anyone dipped on the Superbs at this time of the year at Cowra!).

This follows soon after David's first trip to Cairns where he saw 3 Blue-faced Parrot Finches quite easily at the usual spot on top of Mt Lewis.

David certainly got around this week!
