In August 1968, when walking along a rain forest track on Fraser Island I believe I saw a Rufous Scrub Bird. All the reference books said that they only occured in the mountain ranges on the QLD-NSW border, so I presumed I was mistaken. Recently I surfed them on the Web to find a reference that they were once coastal but retreated due to land clearing.  All the Web sites desribing the Rufous Scrub Bird described my sighting perfectly; preferred habitat; call, appearance & behaviour.   I'm now convinced my initial identification was correct.
