Frank,

Apologies. I have not heard of this geographic description before. This
despite growing up in the area and working there as well. In north
Queensland the terms 'Cape York' and 'Cape York Peninsula' are synonyms. The
term 'Cape York' is also applied to the point north of Sommerset and east
of 'The Tip'. I can see how one would refer to the area north of Bamaga as
Cape York and think this makes good sense as the other point is not much of
a cape. It is more of one than Cape Keer Weer though, which is really just a
bend in the beach.

However if Cape York is Cape York can it also be from somewhere else,
Bamaga, to itself?

Regards,
Alan
