I have found out that Ted's Camera House is selling Pentax Digi-Bino DB100 for $149. The normal recommended price is $599. These are the 7X binoculars with the digital camera built in. The resolution of the photos is not great (.9 megapixels) but for occasional use, especially for close birds, this would be good enough for email transfer and viewing on a PC. Those of you living in Victoria should have no trouble finding a Ted's shop but those in other states (including here in Queensland) may find it a little more difficult.
