David has upped the stakes by referring to Australia.

I haven't seen any mallard hybrids in Victoria outside
metropolitan Melbourne. But I was shocked by the number of
mallards and probable hybrids in Hobart. Perhaps someone
from Tasmania can comment.

Beyond Australasia Greg Sherley compiled a report funded by
Bird Life International:

Bird Conservation Priorities and a Draft Conservation
Strategy for the Pacific Islands region Published in May
2001 by the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme

It can be seen at:
http://www.sprep.org.ws/acrobat/pub/Bird%20conservation%20and%20strategy.pdf

It prioritises the threat to the genetic integrity of the
indigenous Pacific
black duck. "Two percent of ducks are mallards or show signs
of mallard hybridisation."
