Hello All,
I have been doing a bit of reading and, once again, I feel the lack of a
Latin/scientific terms dictionary specifically for birds.
I have several for plants, namely:
Debenham, C. [no date], The Language of botany, SGAP;
Perrin, Don. [no date], Dictionary of botanical names. SGAP; and
Neal, Bill. 1993. Gardener's Latin. Robert Hale Ltd. London.
This combination is usually enough for my plant needs.
Does anyone know:
* If there is a publication that fills that niche for "latin" bird names
and meanings extending to some other ornithological, scientific
expressions?
* Has anyone extracted the scientific names and meanings from Cayley and
sorted that lot into a dictionary-type list?
In hope,
Ros.
