This spot, near my place, is the site of Melbourne's first flour mill, dating to the 1840's. A wasteland until recently, it has been transformed by Melbourne Water and the City of Yarra into something of a beauty spot. Bulrushes started growing there a few years ago and the clump has been expanding year by year so I was not surprised this morning to hear a Clamorous Reed Warbler in full voice, a new bird for my local patch. Will be interesting to see whether he (?) finds a mate. Am wondering how long my next predicted arrival - Swamphen - will take to turn up.
