No doubt Richard will fill you in on this,

The BP Conservation Awards have been going for years, facilitated through
BirdLife International and Fauna and Flora International. These prestigious
prizes are often the deciding factor for student expeditions. I was
fortunate to be involved in one a few years back and we were awarded a
significant proportion of our budget which enabled us to spend a few months
in Madagascar.

I think I am right in assuming that the allocation of awards is still
heavily skewed towards the UK where most of the submissions come from. This
is because UK students are mostly very aware of the importance of applying.

As a previous winner, I would strongly recommend any students in Australia
thinking about doing an expedition, apply to this scheme.

As conservation - I would say that BP are in fact one of the few companies
whose name does often appear with the word Conservation alongside, and for
very good reason. They are one of the few companies that act on a strong
conservation ethic.

Regards,

Simon.
