This is a bit off topic, but I'll wade in!
I work in country/rural/remote areas all the time, and late last year I traded
my GSM (digital)
mobile in for a CDMA (new analogue) unit. The coverage is much better than
digital in country
areas, and drop-outs in the city are almost unheard of. I will not name the
company, but it is
named after a colour associated with some citrus fruits, and outside Melb/Syd
it goes roaming on
the partly owned government monopoly CDMA network. Rates are cheap enough to
warrant using it
occasionally too :-)
