Dean and others,

Definately a great idea! A similar system exists in the UK with the
pager system (not quite sure of its workings). There are ways you can
send out bulk SMS (simple message service - through a mobile phone) from
a central website. This has been developed for workgroups and social
clubs I believe. But there is, like most things with mobile phones, a
cost at sending each message out.

I would have concern with the posting of mobile phone numbers that are
accessible across the net, not because of prank callers, but for the
fear of recieving SMS-Spam. As yet this isn't a problem, but some
companies are definitely looking at cost effective ways of sending bulk
messages for advertising.

Any other ideas from Birding-Ausers?

Cheers,
Al Stewart
