According to the refference below, Grey Herons claimed to have been seen by Gould in 1839 in interior South Australia and may have had a skin from NSW. It mentiones that there were three other sightings of Grey Herons in Australia prior to 1910. It also says "... Grey Herons do breed as far southa as Java in Indonesia and the possibility of their apppearing in Australia cannot be dismissed." - Claire Ref: Serventy, V. N. (Ed. in cheif)(1985).
