Hi
I've recently returned from a trip to Outback SA and SW Qld.  All recent comments seen about drought are pretty spot on.  No rain at Marree since Oct last year and Tibooburra has been trucking water for 12 months plus!

At the Birdsville bore overflow, I saw a chat, which I am sure was an immature male yellow chat, but neither of my field guides provides a useful description and certainly no pictures to help with my notes (see below).  Any guidance on where to find something to help?

The single bird was at water.  Mostly a pale grey wash on the breast and slightly darker grey on the wings, with a very yellow rump/coverts and a relatively short black tail with a white tip.  When it turned towards me, it showed a faint darker, crescent shaped breastband on the greyish breast.  The eye was pale and the bill dark.

Cheers
Tom Wilson
