Hi Birders,

I went to Marlo in East GIppsland Victoria today to see the Ringed Plover in
between my work commitments, left home at 6ish and had done most of my work
and arrived at around 10:30, having listened with increasing concern about
the record rain falls experienced in East Gippsland over the last coupel of
days. Parked at Mots beach, changed out of work clothes into my boardies,a
nd realised that I didn't have suitable shoes, so tiptoed down to the beach,
avoiding stones only to find the estuary well and truly inundated, right up
to the 'sword' grass in the dunes and about 100 metres wide, and perhaps
tragically, lapping under the fenced off Tern breeding area. No chance of
wading the eastuary and swimming didn't seem like a good option.

I guess with the last coupe of twitches being so succesfull I was due to dip
sooner or later. Maybe another chance in a fortnight.

Regards,

Stuart
