G'day all
I've been noticing odd behaviour from a Red Wattlebird lately - presumably the
same individual. It flies into a leafless (deciduous) tree in my neighbour's
backyard. Then it adopts a steep, head down-tail up posture, half spreads its
wings and tail and makes a series of screech noises. No doubt this is a
territorial or mate attracting display but it doesn't appear to be among the
calls/displays described in HANZAB. Despite having lived here for 19 years I
can't recall seeing the Wattlebirds doing this before.
I welcome your comments.
Cheers
Steve
