We are in the midst of some glorious winter weather in this neck of the
godzone, with day time temps in the mid to low 20s [C]. This morning, I
drove down to Running Ck and followed Black Snake Ridge up to the NSW
border.
I atlassed over 40 species along the 7 km transect, including trifectas
of fairy-wrens and scrub-wrens. Parrots were fairly scarce, and crows
were only present around the margins :) . On the other hand, grey
fantails, yellow-faced honeyeaters, white-throated treecreepers and
striated thornbills were ubiquitious.
The highlight of the day was having lunch at the lookout across from
Panic Button Point [on the real Lamington Plateau] listening to the
Alberts Lyrebirds calling to each other above the lilt of the south
branch of Running Creek 400 metres below.
