G'day,
Ian.
There
is another issue which may be of great importance in relation the House Crow,
which has not yet been discussed. Exotic disease. Recall that the
decline in Hawaiian birds has been in large part due to the spread of exotic
diseases from exotic pet birds. Do we know how much of a risk this
is?
From
my reading it seems that House Crows have become established in Spain and South
Africa, where they have become environmental 'pests' requiring expensive control
programs. (Which does not include canon netting).

I wonder what those who supported (or at least didn't object to)
the introduction of Starlings, Common Mynahs, Sparrows, Rabbits,
Brumbies (See todays australian re the upper reaches of the Murray) said
about the harmlessness of a rabbits or whatever.
I too feel this bird should
be quickly dispatched with While there is not much one bird can
get up to any bird or animal with pest potential are best
kept out of Australia .
Ship assisted House Crows will keep arriving even if
it is at an irregular rate. Can this bird hybridise
with our locals? Are there any authorities on the trail of this
one?
cheers
Ian
